    Klickitat River Description

The Klickitat River flows directly from the glacier fields of Mt. Adams and is located in South-Central Washington near the town of Goldendale. This wild river boasts some of the largest strains of wild,summer-run steelhead in the state, along with an abundance of hatchery steelhead. Klickitat steelhead begin to enter the river in June, with the run continuing until the river closes at the end of November..

The river is subject to high, off-color water due to snow melt over the summer months, so we focus most of our effort during the months of October and November. However, cool nighttime temperatures during the months of July and August can make for great fishing. Be sure to bring your binoculars as there is abundant wildlife including deer, black bear and wild turkeys.

    Techniques & Tips

The numbers of fish this year are very low, We are encouraging everyone to leave this fishery alone this year to help the runs.
