How to Fish Lake Oso

Only artificial lures, flies, and baits are permitted. No living or dead fish, insects, human foods or animal foods are allowed as fishing bait.
Oso Lake has largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and planted Tilapia. Only artificial lures or flies, are permitted. No living or dead fish, insects, human foods or animal foods are allowed as fishing bait.
This is a managed fishery, and only registered campers may fish at Oso Lake…So if you want to avoid crowds this might be the place for you. Oso has a really good reputation but in winter it can be slow, so hitting some deeper water off the points. Largemouth bass can be finicky  at this time of year.

As things warm up, use a crank bait, worm tail jigs or slow reel a spinner bait at on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats in 7 to 12 feet of water.

Crappie hang in deep river channels before migrating towards the inlets to this lake  Make sure you don’t forget the river channels, pre-spawn,  look for outcroppings or brush close to deep water.    Try drifting as slow as possible with a light wind  with jigs.
